DATA PROTECTION GUIDELINES FOR HI-INNOVATOR PROGRAMME 

STATEMENT 

Your privacy is important to us. 

It is the Hi-Innovator Programme’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while engaging with this website. Accordingly, we have developed data protection guidelines in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate, disclose and otherwise make use of any information used on the website.  

At all times we shall make reasonable efforts to maintain our compliance with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act (2019) any other digital and electronic laws governing the use of data and digital technologies in Uganda. 

For the purposes of this document, the “Hi-Innovator Programme” may also be referred to as “Hi-Innovator”. The Hi-Innovator Programme is an innovation project for the National Social Security Fund (“NSSF”, or “the Fund”). 

TERMS OF SERVICE 

By accessing this website, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.  

USE LICENSE 

Permission is granted to temporarily download materials (information or software) made available on the Hi-Innovator website for personal, non-commercial transitory viewing only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title, and under this license, you may not: 

  • modify or copy the materials;
  • use the materials for any commercial purpose, or any public display (commercial or non-commercial);
  • attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software contained on the Hi-Innovator website;
  • remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the materials; or
  • transfer the materials to another person or entity, or "mirror" the materials on any other physical or digital platform.

This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by NSSF at any time. Upon terminating your viewing of these materials or upon the termination of this license, you must destroy any downloaded materials in your possession whether in electronic or printed format. 

DISCLAIMERS 

The materials on the Hi-Innovator website are provided on an 'as-is' basis. NSSF makes no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaims and negates all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights. 

Further, NSSF does not warrant or make any representations concerning the accuracy, likely results, or reliability of the use of the materials on the Hi-Innovator website or otherwise relating to such materials or on any sites linked to this site. 

LIMITATIONS 

In no event shall NSSF or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on the Hi-Innovator website, even if NSSF or an authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you. 

ACCURACY OF MATERIALS 

The materials appearing on the website could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. NSSF does not warrant that any of the materials on the Hi-Innovator website are accurate, complete or current. Though NSSF does not make any commitment to update the materials listed on the Hi-Innovator website, NSSF may make changes to the materials at any time without notice.  

LINKS 

NSSF is not liable to any content that may be linked on its website, or any website that may include the Hi-Innovator website amongst its links. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by NSSF and the use of any such linked websites is at the user's own risk. 

MODIFICATIONS 

NSSF may revise these terms of service on the Hi-Innovator website at any time without notice. By using this website, you agree using to be bound by the then current version of these terms of service. 

GOVERNING LAW 

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Uganda and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Uganda. 

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE 

We may collect your personal data by lawful and fair means, and where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned. Before or at the time of collecting your personal data, we will notify you on the purposes for which information is being collected. 

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes related to the Hi-Innovator Accelerator. 

The collection of your personal data does not automatically qualify you for the purpose for which it is being collected. 

COMMUNICATION 

We may use your personal data to target relevant engagements and information that may include trainings, workshops, newsletters, event invites, phone calls and advertisements related to the Fund or its associated partners. 

We will collect and use your personal data solely for fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other ancillary purposes. For any other purposes, we shall seek your consent as may be required by law. 

COOKIES 

Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer's hard drive.  

Like many sites, we use "cookies" to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of the website. 

SECURITY 

We will protect any information collected from you by using reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. 

We will make readily available to customers information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information. 

CHANGES TO THESE GUIDELINES 

We are committed to conducting our business according to these principles to ensure that the confidentiality of personal information is protected and maintained. Hi-Innovator may change these guidelines from time to time at its sole discretion.
